With thirty one January days and nights behind us, we breathe a sigh of relief and celebrate the return of the light, in the stretching of the days, the nascent earth, and in the lovely Amethyst, birthstone for the star sign Pisces and gemstone for the month of February. Spring is in the air and Valentine`s Day around the corner, but it`s not quite time to start the revelries yet, for Amethyst is the stone of sobriety and lucid thinking. With Amethyst we can cultivate a calm and meditative state of mind, and a connection to spirit, and my lovely handmade Amethyst Angel Pendants are testimony to this.
If ever a stone could be immortal it must surely be the glamorous Amethyst. The regal beauty and elegance of Amethyst has been revered by emperors, kings, clergy and poets throughout the ages .Moses described it as a symbol of the Spirit of God in the official robes of the High Priest of the Jews, and the Russian Empress Catherine the Great sent thousands of miners into the Urals to look for it.
A large number of further miraculous powers are attributed to the amethyst in all sorts of cultures. It was said to protect crops against tempests and locusts, bring good fortune in war and in the hunt, drive out evil spirits and inspire the intellect.
As in the ancient myth, a drunken Dionysus, the Greek god of fertility and wine was pursuing a maiden named Amethyst, on her way to the temple of Diana. When the maiden refused the drunken god’s affections, she was turned to quartz. But when the god saw the girl thus, he was overcome with love and sorrow. He wept upon her statue and his wine-purple tears stained the stone forever. Perhaps this is why cups and goblets carved from amethyst were once used to insure the drinker would not become intoxicated, as amethyst was considered to be a powerful antidote against drunkenness.
A little study of the works of Pliny will reveal that this gemstone, if worn round the neck on a cord made from dog’s hair, affords protection against snakebite. Later, Hieronymus even reported that eagles placed an amethyst in their nest in order to protect their young from vipers.
Over 2000 years ago artists sculpted amethyst into objects of beauty. A wonderful illustration of this can be seen in the amethyst bust of the well remembered and virtuous roman Emperor, Trajan. Stolen from Belgiam by Napolian Bonepart, it`s home is now in the brittish meuseum.
Cleopatra`s famous signet ring was an amethyst engraved with the figure of Mithras, a Persian god of light. Her influence over the two Roman generals, Caesar and Marc Anthony has been partly attributed to the powers of this Amethyst ring.
Amethysts occupy a very prominent position in the ornaments of the Catholic clergy over the centuries. It is the stone of bishops and cardinals and we find it in prelates’ crosses as in the lavish 15th century Italian Papal Ring, in the Jewellery Museum in Pforzheim.
The Amethyst necklace of Queen Charlotte of England, which was so famous at the beginning of the 18th century, its value being estimated at 2000 pounds sterling at that time, was apparently worth only 100 pounds 200 years later. The irony of the beautiful purple amethyst is that it is composed of the most common mineral on Earth. In recent times, a find in the USA has been making headlines. In July 1993, a three-metre druse was found in Maine, which contained well over 1000 kilogrammes of cuttable amethyst, some of it in crystals 19 cm in length. Wow !

Garnet January Birthstone Pendant. The Garnet Angel, from Angel Jewelry.
Monday, December 27th, 2010What better gemstone to lead us out of the darkness of winter and back towards the Sun than the strong and vibrant Garnet, with its deep, warm red spark of life. Known as January’s birthstone, it is also the stone for the zodiac sign of Aquarius and can be given as a gem on the 2nd and 6th wedding anniversary. A Gemstone of the Sun, Garnet has been found to contain rare earth elements.
Garnet jewellery has a history that dates back to the Bronze Age, circa 3000 BC. Garnets were found in ancient Egypt, Rome, and Greece. In the old testament we are told that Noah was led through the tempests of the great flood with the help of a gigantic Garnet which was held in a lantern at the helm of the Ark, and another reference tells us that the breastplate of the high priest Aaron contained, among other gemstones, a Garnet into which was carved the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel and also represented one of the twelve signs of the Zodiac.. In Myth and legend Garnet is associated with one of the oldest fruits known to man the pomegranate..the names of both stemming from the Latin word granatus meaning seed or grain. The name Garnet may also come from a middle English word gernet meaning dark red The depth and richness of Garnet has been linked with fertility from ancient times not only because of its colour and its assocoiation with menstruation, but also through the Myth of Persephone and the cycle of the seasons. Persephone the Goddess of sunshine was given a pomegranite by Hades, God of the underworld, to ensure her speedy return, when she left him each spring to bring life and warmth back to the earth after the decay of winter.
Folklore has it that Garnets are symbolic of a quick return and may be given to a beloved before embarking on a trip, as it is believed to heal the broken bonds of lovers. Tradition associates the Garnet with the qualities of success in business, protection for travel, constancy, loyalty and comittment especcially in Love, the Victorians being fond of giving a piece of Garnet jewellery to mark the second and sixth wedding aniversary, as a symbol of deepening love and comittment in marriage.
According to ancient Egyptians and Greeks, as well as New Age and Crystal healers, this gemstone has many of the highest healing qualities. Garnet is said to have restorative properties which are recommended in the healing of toxicity and blood poisoning as well as circulatory dysfunction. The Garnet is also widely revered as helpful in arthritis and muscle pain due to its warming energy.
As we celebrate our yearly re-turning towards the life giving Sun, we remember the full vibrancy and life affirming properties of this glorious stone. Saturday, December 18th, 2010I have been trying to understand our fascination with Angels for a long time now. Why don’t we just go directly to God? After all he`s our top man, whats all this about Angels ? How come so many people in so many parts of the world have sung about them, composed music in their honour, sculpted and painted them, and written accounts of them for thousands of years, in every religion and culture on the planet.?. Probably because Angels are beautiful, kind, pure beings and we feel safe with them and believe they will help us, and somehow they can seem closer to us than that God of ours, who is so big and out there and far away and Almighty. Hence we find ourselves asking our Angels to help, and would they please go up there and make a great big noise around Him with all their fanfare and singing, so He`ll pay attention… It feels a bit like that to me anyway, Angels connect us to God, by bridging that gap. That’s not to say they can`t help us directly, because they can and certainly do. Angels have a lot of knowledge. They are beings of love and light and are very wise, because they spend a lot of time up there around God and they want to help. After all we came from up there,and we`re all going back up sometime, so it really isn’t too much of a stretch to ask a few favours and a bit of guidance from the Angels who are just waiting to lend a helping hand. I`m even thinking that maybe we are all Angels, who have chosen to come to earth and do some work down here for a while. That would make sense, and when I try to understand why some people can be so horrible maybe it’s because they have had a horrible time here before, or in their childhood and its made them forget about their true nature which is Angelic, pure loving and kind..
.Anyway its Christmas time now and as we all know Angels are about in a big way, singing all their beautiful songs and making heavenly music for us. I for one will be listening for them and looking for them, maybe even meet some, hope so. I am asking that they spread their Light and Peace and Love throughout the world, reaching into everyone’s hearts and homes extending warmth, prosperity, joy, health, healing, harmony and plain old goodwill to all. I hope that every home will have at least one Angel, every journey be safeguarded by one, and every hurt healed by their grace. Happy Christmas to all my amazing family, my old and new friends and the all fabulous people I meet whilst doing my job. Thank you for making my life what it is.

They have been with us through the ages, and our Guardian Angels are with us throughout our lives. It is the time when we most need some direction in our lives that Angels come to us. Perhaps we are feeling anxious, or have lost a loved one, or maybe we have recently become unemployed, but in all events asking for our Guardian Angels help will always bring us some beneficial results. Recently all I can think about are the new goddess pendants that I am being asked to manifest. I`m extremely interested in one particular goddess, as she is very much associated with my homeland, Ireland. Her name is Sheela-na-gig, and if you have not heard of her yet, now is the time to do some research, because she is one of our national goddess`s who has survived from ancient times in her true and original form and in all her magnificent glory.. ..what a miracle !
Sheila-na-gig is the name given to the many female figurines found as artifacts mainly in Ireland yet also in England, Scotland and Germany, in general, the area that has long been under Celtic influence. These Sheelas are mostly cut from stone, and show a boney old hag, squatting or standing, legs spread, exhibiting her very large vulva. These women or deities are by most standards quite unpleasant to look at, resembling as they do underfed, half-dead skeletal creatures or half-smiling demons. What makes these figures especially interesting is the fact that most of them were found embedded (and some still are) in the walls of early monasteries and village churches, and were often placed over doorways and entrances.
The name Sile ni ghig or Sheela-na-gig, has always been a considerable puzzle to etymologists, but some intuitive investigation as to “her” purpose and meaning certainly gives us some food for thought. In Mesopotamia, at the temple of Erech, the term “nu-gug” was used to designate the women who held the office of sacred harlot. “Gig”, “gigee” and “gee” are words which are still used in Irish slang today, to refer to a woman`s genitals and are related to the Irish ‘jig’, which in turn comes from the French “gigue” which in pre-christian times was an orgiastic dance. The word “gyg” is Norse for giantess, in other words a supernatural female. Look at the various relatives of the Irish name Sheila meaning “a girl.” We find that Sheila as well as being a woman’s name, means femininity, a female but also a special kind of woman: a wise woman, a spiritual woman. Shee means “fairy” or “spirit” or “other worldly” and the older form Sidhe correctly pronounced “Shee-uh” means “fairy woman”. Some suggest that these Sheela`s are a pre-Celtic version of the Oriental sacred prostitutes, and that they were “imported” from the Mesopotamian region. Alternate spellings: Sheela-na-gig, Sheela-no-gig, Sheelanagyg, Irish Síle na gCíoch “Sheila of the Breasts”
Being of pre-christian origin, our Sheela earned herself a somewhat seedy and derogatory reputation among our christian puritans, who, obviously horrified by her bold display of body parts, deemed her a powerful reminder to the congregation of the unholy power of women and the sins of the flesh, .but we know the vulva as holy symbol of birth and life is a very ancient idea that symbolizes the life-giving and regenerative powers of the Earth Mother.
The image of the vulva has a long history of being carved in stone, and is found all over the world, from the Paleolithic and Neolithic Ages. Often found placed over doorways “she” is the Goddess of the sacred entrance, the passageway to the womb, and the place of darkness which holds the mysteries of gestation, renewal and rebirth. In ancient Ireland, passage graves were also built in the shape of the Goddess, with the passage the vagina, and the tomb chamber itself representing Her uterus. “The tomb” and “the womb” were thus equated, celebrating and ensuring regeneration and continuity after death.
Sheila-na-gig figures closely resembled the yonic statues of Kali which still appear at the doorways of Hindu temples, where visitors lick a finger and touch the yoni “for luck.” Some of the older figures have deep holes worn in their yonis from much touching. As mentioned before, Celts generally protected doorways and entrances with some type of female-genital fetish, which is why they settled on the horseshoe, the classic Omega-sign of Kalika. In India it stood for the feminine cosmos within which Shiva ever performed his creative sexual dance
The protruding ribcage on many examples of the Sheila-na-gig imitates the figures of Kali as the death-goddess Kalika, evidently remembered in Ireland as the Caillech, the Irish crone or hag, thought to have been a goddess who married a series of husbands and passed from youth to old age more than once, and who was also the Creatress and gave birth to all the races of men.. She still survives today as a lively figure in modern Irish folklore, as the creator and devourer of the world, a symbol of the great mother in continuous cycles of life, death and rebirth. Now there`s some food for thought !
What a wonderous world, the goddess lives, as nourishment and sanctuary for all women everywhere. May you find her now, and may “she” remind you constantly of your real and true value, your sacredness and your strength.

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010Does anyone you know argue, disagree or correct you every time you say something to them? It could be you make a passing comment about the weather, or express an opinion about a more serious matter, but after a while you soon realize that a conversation with this person is going nowhere fast, and it may even develop into an argument. No need to get upset, this is known as “blocking” and when you notice this happening, you may as well just stop, smile… and get on with your day. There is no communication happening here.
If this situation happens with a work colleague in a work context it can prove very difficult indeed to get any job done. There is a block which inhibits a flow of communication.
The Angels say that to diffuse and bring healing to situations such as these, first you must surround the person with pure light and then ask the Angels to bring the person all their hearts desires, be it love, health or wealth and just wish this person all the good in the universe.
Ask Archangel Michael to help you, and show you how to best deal with this situation. If you could take a little break away, in a quiet place, or go for a walk this helps. Ask Archangel Michael for guidance and healing in your dealings with this particular person. Name the person. See the person again in pure light. . You will be amazed how help will come and miracles happen when you simply ask. I know this works, try it and see.

Please have a look at this absolutely gorgeous Archangel Michael Pendant, now that I have finally got him up on my site. This beautiful Pendant measures 6cm across and 7cm in length, including the two drops.
The gemstones I have used carry the vibration of Michael and all his attributes. Iolite as the centre stone,(vision and success) is surrounded by four bright blue Topaz,(creativity and confidence). At the head of the pendant I have used an Aquamarine,(courage and serenity) and the dark blue stones to the sides are Lapis Lazuli,(truth and knowledge). This month I am happy to bring you the long awaited collection of Archangel Pendants. This is a project I have dreamed about for over a year now, and at last I can say I have completed my mission. Angel Jewellery. Happy customers and the Power of Angel Pendants.

Dear Linda,…Thank you for your kind message.
I’m absolutely delighted with the Citrine Angel pendant,I have to say the
design is the most beautiful I have ever seen and I’ve seen many Angel
pendants everywhere,but yours just stands out from the rest.
I felt a wonderful sense of warmth and calm when I first put it on,it
brought me great comfort and inner peace.
I don’t have the pendant anymore though..why?you may ask!
I have a dear friend who I’m very close to,and things have never been easy
for her throughout her life,she is only 26 and have endured the most
cruelist and hardest of expierences for someone so young.
We met just over 5 years ago,by chance at a meeting.We connected straight
away,but on a deeper level like I’ve never experienced before.I ‘knew’ we
were meant to meet and become close friends.
We’re both very spiritual and believe in
Angels,synchronicities,healing,fairies and elementals..the list goes on.
We have so much in common.But outside influences always had other ideas for
my friend,it’s a constant battle to be in a job that makes her happy and
secure,it always seems ‘too good’ to be true when she thinks a better job
comes up,only to be disillusioned time after time,that the hours are not
long enough,she doesn’t get paid enough,work conditions aren’t great,or
being treated in a bad way etc,etc.
I went over to her house one day and I took one look at her and knew
something was wrong,she looked tired and had lots of muddy colours round her
aura with deep red,so I knew she was deeply depressed.She told me that she
may not be able to start her new job due to complications in her
applications.
That was just one of the many things that keeps going wrong for her,learning
that the possibilty of not getting this next job was the last staw.She
looked broken and had had enough.
I know that when things go really bad,at times I feel that she wishes she
wasn’t alive,I know she had almost succeeded on a couple of occasions.A few
years ago she tried to take her life,I was heartbroken.Ever since then,I
always know if she becomes ‘unstable’ and I somehow manage to pull her
back,she tries not to tell me,but I can read her,so she knows she can’t hide
the truth or her feelings from me,even from a distance I know when something
isn’t right.
It’s hard work sometimes,but I do my best to be there for her..but that day
when I sat at the table and took one good look at her tired face..something
stirred in my heart,I heard a voice in my mind telling me to give her the
Citrine Angel pendant I was wearing,I never questioned why,or that I’ve just
bought it for myself,and didn’t want to give it to her,my ego didn’t come
into it..I just ‘knew’ she had to have the pendant.
I put the necklace round her,and instantly her aura brightened up.She sat up
and smiled.She told me she feels more calm and warm and had a feeling of
being protected and ‘cared’ for by someone unseen.
I told her that “If you feel down,talk to Arch Angel Gabriel,she will guide
you if you ask,her stone is Citrine”
Ever since that night I gave her my necklace,things took a very different
turn for her,job offers came her way in which she has acted uppon to get her
out of the one she’s in now that is dragging her down so much.Also a man she
was deeply in love with..and still does,even though in another loveless
relationship,although she would never tell me,I kew*smiles*
She had a call from her first love to say he was sorry and it took a
seperation,a heartbreaking loss of a baby,to realise that he still loves
her,as she loved him.
I have not seen my friend look so happy and calm in a long time.I believe
the power of the Citrine and Arch Angel Gabriel was guiding her,showing her
the way, the transformation has had a wonderful effect on her life,even so
soon as within a week.
I knew I bought the pendant for a very good reason,and it wasn’t for
me.Thank you so much!
Isn’t it amazing how a chain of events happen like this?Who says this is a
